Rw's Food News Transatlantic Shellfish Trade




FDA finding could reinstate cross-Atlantic shellfish trade


Imported molluscan shellfish from Europe are as safe as if they were harvested off Puget Sound or Massachusetts Bay, according to a Food and Drug Administration finding. FDA’s equivalence determination means two-way raw shellfish trade across the Atlantic is likely to be back on after a lapse of almost eight years.“I plan to announce more over the coming year about this proposed equivalence determination as we continue to work with the EU (European Union) on the details for resuming mutually beneficial trade in this area,” said a statement from FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb. 1. Making meals from scratch can be a daunting task that's why it is best plan everything ahead of time.The day before you can prep your veggies, and protein of your choice like Chicken or steak after wards store your ingredients sealed in plastic bags in a fridge til the next day.

2. A smaller recipe like mini chocolate chip cookies can be bake at a higher temp (500 degrees) for 4 minutes.

3.Herbs or spices are to be store in a cool storage area  due to the outside heat that can alter the flavor of your seasonings.

4. A coarse microplaine is recommended  for prepping vegetables for salads and vinaigrette's. 

5. Stock whether vegetable, or protein based are to be made in large quantities then frozen in plastic storage bags for easy soup making.

Rw's Food News Bacteria found in Raw Milk




Inspectors have found Listeria monocytogenes in raw milk from a Pennsylvania dairy, prompting Pennsylvania officials to urge consumers to immediately discard any of the unpasteurized milk bought recently.Routine state testing revealed the bacterial contamination in raw milk from Fertile Valley Farm of Honesdale, PA. The Wayne County dairy posted a notice about the contamination on social media, according to the March 2 public warning from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.



The dairy operators sold the implicated unpasteurized milk directly from their farm between Feb. 21 and March 1. Fertile Valley Farm raw milk purchased between those dates should immediately be thrown away. Any containers or storage areas, such as refrigerators, should be throughly washed and sanitized.Read more here thanks.
