Rw's Deviant Art Favs

Wow... I really didn't expect to get this done today but... there it is! :dummy: Another picture off my "To do"-list!

Laura Mvula b. April 23, 1987
Born into a musical family, the English singer songwriter, from Birmingham released her debut EP, She, in Nov. 2012 to be followed by her debut Album, Sing to the Moon due out in Mar.2013. She was shortlisted for the Critics Choice Brit Awards 2013 but pipped to the post. However, in an already crowded female soloist market, watch this face …

A re-imagining of Lion-O of the Thundercats...I was a big fan of the cartoon. Fan art ofcourse
I like Star Wars - but Predator is another all-time classic sci-fi movie. So I thought it would be cool to merge both of those universes - and here's my depiction of a 'Sith Predator'.

Can you imagine the mayhem he could cause with his cloaking device, shoulder cannon and twin lightsabers mounted on his arm!

I've made some changes to the standard Predator costume - to make it more in-keeping with the look of the Star Wars universe - and if you look closely you might pick up some subtle design cues I adapted from notable Star Wars characters.

I've drawn this Predator with a mainly white skin colouring - although I added some black and grey blotches in stripes as I thought this would suggest a tiger-like pattern. I also thought that the Predator would look even more menacing with some red dreadlocks - instead of the usual black.

I took a look time over this - because I'd originally thought of drawing it in a movie-poster style - but I decided that it would be easier for the viewer to take in the concept with a less cluttered approach. I also tried a few different versions of the armour and colouring - but this is my favourite.

I have also drawn this Sith Predator wearing a redesigned Star-Wars-inspired helmet - and I'll probably post that at some point if I see that there's any interest in this character.

This is an entirely original illustration - taking inspiration from George Lucas's universe and Stan Winston's creature design - first drawn in pencil, then scanned and coloured in Photoshop using a Wacom pad.
